Yeah, so I took my friendof list and shuffled it and wrote little blurbs about everyone, and now those who read can amuse me by trying to figure out what I think of them in comments. Ranges from somewhat easy to nigh-impossible.
Update: If you make a decent guess or two, I will most likely take pity on you.
Update: If you make a decent guess or two, I will most likely take pity on you.
mikhailborg Um. Apart from your fascination with sci-fi and clicky robots I don't know you too well. I've enjoyed the couple of times I've hung out with you, though.
- You seem to be in the same place I was a few years ago. May you emerge from it unscathed. I didn't.
narquelion I find your ... faith ... in me misplaced, especially when you've managed to do any number of things I've been unable to.
dasphios You write well enough that I read what you've written with no prompting.
- You have a fun voice, you're gorgeous, and you won't be able to pick yourself out of this list, though doubtless others will.
- Always interesting and usually insightful.
- Big changes ahead, but people who know you better than I do are convinced you'll be up to them. So, go you.
- I still carry an image of you from certain Bad Experiences and Poor Judgement Calls when we met, and you've not done much to change that image.
vt_komainu We get along well, maybe because our paths rarely cross but more likely because you're one of the more easygoing people I know.
- A rockin Fluxx player and all-around together person.
kirigoemimarin You're growing up, which is good. Some of your potential is being realised. Plus you're pleasant to be around.
- I may not trust you, but you can be entertaining at times.
idoru I have a great deal of respect for you; you're carrying through on several things I've tried and failed horribly at.
zerblinitzky You are the first person I've met with as much appreciation for graphic novels as me.
cblack You can be entertaining, but at times you fall victim to Joe Syndrome. Ultimately, I'm glad I know you.
- I suspect we feel the same way about a number of people, which makes you a good person to play games with.
- You were possibly the best housemate I've ever had.
- You may not remember, but you were part of one of my first B-burg role-playing experiences. It's still weird to think that you don't live here.
- Despite what you think you have done amazingly well for yourself, on your own merits.
laughin I now know better than to talk literature with you. :) You've been through a lot lately, and are weathering it better than I would.
- Your total dedication to everything you do will doubtless be your undoing. In the meantime, though, you're a helluva guy.
- I don't need to remind you of this, but: you got friends. They're important. (I'll feel rather foolish if you turn out not to be who I think you are.)
lizthefair You're trying to make a living doing something you love, no matter how difficult that may be. I cannot express how much I respect that.
sir_alf You have enough of your shit together that you know where to look for the last few bits, and you've kept me together more times than you know.
vt_andros A willingness to change is, ultimately, all that's needed.
platypusgirl I don't hate you, regardless of anything you may have heard; I just interact better with you in smaller doses.
nixve You not only laugh at my jokes, you can sometimes riff off them in ways I've not seen in ages.
- Your taste in literature is impeccable. I may not agree with recent decisions, but they're yours to make.
queue We seem simultaneously much alike and very, very different. Under other circumstances I might have been you; I'm not sure whether I think that's good or bad.
- You're less wild in person, but still fun to hang around with.
ndkid More analytical than passionate. I have yet to decide whether I think this is a flaw or a quirk.
rubinpdf A taste in media that is both eclectic and discriminating. Also a sense of both politics and humor that occasionally meshes with my own.
shadowsong I'm never too sure how I've felt about you; it's always been a bit confusing. Regardless, I'm always glad to see you on those rare occasions.
vond I envy you in a number of ways, but in many others I'm glad I'm not you. May your future be as bright as your past has been.
- You dance and you dream and I've had a bit of a crush on you since I met you, so it's just as well these are all kind of vague.
faekitty You I don't know as well as I'd like, but others vouch for you at the highest possible level. So, you're okay in my book. Hang in there.
bitbug Simultaneously cool and frustrating, probably due to my having to interact with you on two very different levels at the same time.
- You do better as a romantic; if you ever turn into a cynic, the end of the world will be nigh.
skreidle Outspoken, diverse, cheerful, motivated... you're many things I'd like to be, although I'd want to moderate them all a bit.
kittenchan I can't tell whether or not you're afraid to try new things. You certainly jump into them feet-first, though.
- You're one of a very few on this list who I can say have actually Grown Up, and you've been very brave in the last few months.
- Your interests are many and varied, and you seem to be making the most out of life.
- Evidently you have an active social life, as evidenced by the paucity of your LJ posts. I think the one time we talked it was about RPGs and was a pretty good conversation.
uilos May your generosity always be rewarded, and may the stupid flee at your approach.
mnemex I envy you a number of your writing credits.
scathach You know where you're broken and where you're fixed, and you're working on getting gafftape for the former. And you were always wiser than me.
- If I could be one person on this list it'd be you.
- You have good taste in RPGs, and decent taste in literature in general.
- I disagree with some of your philosophies, but that doesn't interfere with games, so it's all good.
the_radix Weirdness with mutual, uh, acquaintances, aside, you seem like an extremely Cool guy.
zyxwvut You manage to take things quite seriously while still having a great deal of fun with them. I'm striving for this balance myself.
- We don't know each other too well, but you're willing to help out when needed, and that's worth a lot.
pictsy It's just as well we never dated, I think; what do two shy people talk about? You're still cute, though.

Date: 2003-06-21 10:49 am (UTC)I accept that the weirdness is my fault. I'm not sure what it would take to change that. If I did know, would I try? Hm. I'd like to say that it was a combination of circumstances, but it's more than that, and I'm not entirely sure what more. I'll have to spend quite a bit of time to figure that out.

Date: 2003-06-21 11:10 am (UTC)It's no more than half your fault in any event. Like I said after having heard both sides, "People are a problem." I could wish things had worked out differently, but *shrug* wish in one hand and spit in the other, see which fills up faster.

Mine is one of the more vague ones I've seen, which in retrospect was a mistake, but oh well.

Re: To break the curse or not, that is the question here.
Date: 2003-06-22 06:02 pm (UTC)I don't really interact with you on levels other than 'friend,' so you're not 37. And 49... I don't know that I actively disagree with many of your philosophies.
It's vague for the people I'm vague on, I guess. Ultimately it says more about me than about them, much as the guesses say more about them than about me.

Date: 2003-06-22 07:52 pm (UTC)First, we rule out the ones already assigned to others: 1, 3, 11, 14, 15, 24, 25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 34, 36, 40, 44, 45, 46, 50, 51
Second, we strike those that can be immediately ruled out, for various logistical or otherwise glaringly obvious reasons: 5, 8, 10, 12, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 28, 32, 35, 37, 39, 43, 48, 49, 53
This leaves: 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 13, 19, 30, 38, 41, 42, 47, 52
2 - Possible. I don't -think- I'm in a very scathable position at the moment, but starting a new job and moving in with a friend, could be.
4 - Flattering, but I don't know that I'd give myself that much credit.
6 - See 4.
7 - Possible, depends what level of faith you place in my abilities vs. my friends.
9 - Unlikely. I'm generally very easygoing, it's true, but I can't recall any time our paths crossed in a negative way.
13 - Possible, I don't know what attempts we've both had.
19 - Unlikely, as I'm generally proud of my accomplishments.
30 - Unlikely, as I'm about as much fun in person as online.
38 - Unlikely, as the world would continue to spin merrily if my cynicism increased. Mostly romantic, a bit of a cynic, am I.
41 - Unlikely, as I doubt I've Grown Up much recently.
42 - Possible.
47 - Flattering, but entirely unlikely.
52 - Unlikely, as I'd say we know each other -reasonably- well.
This, the remaining possibles are:
2, 7, 13, 42
..and I'll leave it at that. Did I encompass my line, or did I misread either you or myself? :)

Date: 2003-06-23 05:39 am (UTC)7: Eh, could be, but that's too vague for someone I know as well as you.
13: *laugh* True, but truer for yer sister.
42: Quite true, but I find 39 to be truer.
You're definitely outspoken, what I see of you is cheerful, and you've kept at the jobhunt despite nigh-constant setbacks. And you like animals and motorcycles and arguing and yeah, diverse. Hence you get 39, and my vote is (obviously) for misreading yourself.

i'm sure it's actually one of the horrifically vague ones. like 6 minus the 'insightful' part, or 42. because, y'know, it probably applies to the vast majority of the people you know.

Date: 2003-08-09 12:24 pm (UTC)Excluding the ones already taken, we're left with 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 28, 30, 35, 38, 41, 42, 43, 47, 48, 49 and 52.
Now, we haven't met (or even talked) yet, so that takes out most of those.
I'm not sure what Fluxx is and I you don't really know me well enough to not trust me, which takes out 10 and 12.
As I've never really discussed literature, I can take out 28 and 48.
As I've only given about a half-dozen interests (so I've been lazy. bite me.), I can take out 42.
Those who know me well aren't really known to you (to the best of my knowledge), so I'll take away 7.
Since most of what I write about is either who I'm pissed at lately or the most recent bizzare stuff that's happened to me, I can probably take out 4 and 6.
As I'm hardly a romantic in even the loosest sense of the term; and have far too much sense to become a cynic, I can take out 38.
Since the last few months have required about as much bravery as operating a toaster, I'll eliminate 41.
As I don't have total dedication to anything except watermelon and the long-standing struggle for freedom, I can take out 21.
Now, I do think I've done pretty well, and the struggles I go through now aren't of the scathing kind, I can eliminate 2 and 19.
I'm exactly who I say I am, so there goes 22.
And since you've never really indicated that you're both that fond of surrealism and that masochistic, I can likely take out 47, which leaves me with: nothing.
And thus, the conclusion that either I missed something or that I'm not on the list.
