scattered clouds and thoughts
Jun. 20th, 2012 08:51 amHappy summer, all. Clearish skies, bright light, temps above 15C. Looks like it's decided to stop being Juneuary out here.
"I do not refer to the system of the Nine Houses as a religion.... They had no god; they had no gods; they had no faith. What they appear to have had is a working metaphor."
--Ursula K. Le Guin, "Always Coming Home"
I'd like to say it's been a busy-good week, but mostly I've just done a lot of walking around. Doctor, blood test, chiro (for my stupid shoulder and wallet-related sciatica), plus an unexpectedly lengthy detour through an underground parkade beneath Canada Place on Monday night. For future reference, there is no easy way to cross the train tracks at Waterfront Station, which is only really relevant if you've been hanging out at a park down by the water and think it'd be nice to walk back along the shore instead of through Gastown / Downtown Eastside. I mean, seriously, the above-ground parking garage has staircases that run from the top level down to the second floor but don't bother to go all the way to ground level. Totally defensible in case of zombie attack, not so helpful for getting where you're going in peacetime. I suppose that's the fundamental tension of modern life.
Been feeling drained and brain-dead the last several days. Here's hoping that'll turn around soonish. I like being me a lot better when it involves accomplishing things other than "reading book" and "staring at internet."
