Mar. 20th, 2002 11:35 pmit's been awhile, again. mostly because i've been busy. got to see stephen for most of the weekend, which was arguably the single coolest thing that's happened to me since i got to stop working fast food.
stephen is this guy. he was one of my closest friends from early '97 until he moved to atlanta in '98 or '99 (i can't remember which). back when there was still shit going down with my parents in the spring/summer of '97, he and i seriously contemplated walking to atlanta. (this idea having sprung from him needing to talk to a guy he knew down there, me not wanting to face my parents with my grades or steph in general, and both of us watching _Heat_, in which robert deniro offers the advice, "do not have any attachments-- do not have anything that you cannot walk out on in thirty seconds flat if you spot the heat around the corner.") he and jonathan and justin and vond and emily and mandy and i made up a neat little group for a year or two. he left to go live with his girlfriend and her husband in atlanta (she proceeded to break up with both of them and move to b-burg, which sucked, but that's okay), and has put down some roots there... g/f of three years, that sort of thing. having him back for basically six days was incredibly, incredibly cool. reminded me of how much fun i can have with cool people, and why i should put forth more effort into _being_ cool people.
the main reason he was back was for technicon, the local sf convention. con itself was also pretty darn cool. four hours of werewolf on satyrday night, a really good time-travel rpg (involving casablanca!), and some good games. crystal black was there, too, which was nice. if only jonathan and justin had shown up... ah well.
stephen and nathan and i stayed up all night on monday night playing the battletech card game, which was loads of fun. it's been ages since i stayed up all night doing anything.
i got to dredge up out of my memory a rather unpleasant event from high school, which is notable as being one of the few instances where i had most of the information about some of my friends' personal crises without being involved.
and then spiel tonight was rather blah. *shrug* but life goes on. and my midterm has been pushed back to monday, so i can write it this weekend while emily goes to richmond.
