xmas

xmas happens, as usual. stuff is obtained, and delivered.
my father got a singing fish from my baby sister. said fish was later revealed to have been gotten by her from her work xmas swap. it's one thing to not give a damn, but to broadcast it _that_ loudly...
a year or so further away from home might well do my baby sister a world of good.

in other news... xmas is climbing back on my list of Less Than Cool Holidays. my general apathy towards trying to coordinate enough to see people over the couple of days i'm here means that the travel time feels much less worthwhile, since it's spend hanging with relatives. and i'm not even making money over xmas anymore, so there's even _less_ point. <shrug> and life goes on. i really don't understand why my parents drove 15-20 hrs every xmas for many years to see relatives. but hey.

saw emily's family earlier this week, and had dinner with her aunt and uncle and grandparents (all on her mother's side). 'twas interesting. despite dire warnings about grandpa's grumpiness, it was no worse than xmas dinner at grandmother taylor's.
my mother cooked xmas dinner for the family on the 26th. it was disturbingly like xmas dinner at gram and pop's used to be. only with less drunken uncles. and there was cinnamon creme pie. mmm.

happy day after boxing day to everyone.
