The Coolest Car Commercial Ever. Requires Shockwave; may take awhile to d/l. (I don't know; I set it to download and went away for several hours. Their servers may be a bit busy.) Update: [livejournal.com profile] skreidle recommends trying this link instead if you're on a slow connexion.

Thursday I worked, then went and played Werewolf with Kyle etc. I'm still having fun, so that's good. Got to beat up on a couple of Umbral beasties, and started getting worried about the main plot (big Wyrm-creature imprisoned in the ice trying to escape, and the last time it was bound it killed off pretty much everyone doing the binding in the process).

Today was class (yay), and then E and I went to see Bulletproof Monk. It was fun. Lots of wire-fu, a couple shots of the baddest man alive being the baddest man alive, some good jokes, and a plot that surprisingly doesn't fall apart if you look at it crosseyed. So even though Roger Ebert didn't like it, I was pretty happy. (Ebert's review is pretty good, though. "Kar engages in a violent martial arts struggle with the gang for a long time, after which they stop, because the scene is over, and Mr. Funktastic issues a dire warning should Kar ever stray their way again." "The film demonstrates, "Matrix"-style, that a well-trained fighter can leap into the air and levitate while spinning dozens of times, although why anyone would want to do this is never explained.") Plus Bad Girl (Jaime King) is rather cute, and the 'Battle for Love in the Palace of Jade' (in which sexual tension runs high while Kar and Bad Girl fight) is surprisingly fun.

And tomorrow I get to go see The Tempest at Barter Theatre (belated Xmas present from [livejournal.com profile] jedibfa) and then do dinner with Charles Vess. Who never had it so good?

(i say godDAYUM this is a bitter song. it may be the most bitter song i know.)

One of the things I've learned about movie reviews is that if a repected movie critic says a genre film is good, it's probably quite good. If he says it's bad, it's probably still fun. If your friends all say it's bad, then it's probably pretty lousy.

Yeah. That sounds about right.
