People I was somewhat surprised to see at Tcon:

• Nimic, who I didn't know until he got here
  
• Megan Lewis
  
• Scooter, who sort of recognised me (I knew him vaguely the first couple years I was here)
  
• Colleen Reed, who didn't recognise me (mostly because the last time I saw her was like ten years ago)
  
• James Not-Matthew Roberts and Kate Roberts
  
• Jennifer Dunham (!), who I've known longer than anyone I'm not related to, with maybe four exceptions (all of whom, it occurs to me, are also female. How odd.)

In other news:
a bullet in the head, now he's dead
a friend of a friend, someone said
he was an activist with a very short life
i think there's a lesson here-- he died without a fight

Why were you surprised to see Not-Matt and Kate? They come every year.

For some reason I was thinking they wouldn't be there this year. Dunno why.

I was kinda surprised to see Nimic, since he looks like someone I know (but actually isn't). I kept thinking, "That can't be Nimic, I know him and I don't know Nimic."

Heh, Megan arrived during the 15 minutes I was actually doing registrations and I had to ask her "You are still Megan *Lewis*, right?" - I'm just that out of touch.
