Liechtenstein for rent: "'The basic idea is that an entire, small country plays host to a conference with all the various possibilities at its disposal,' said Roland Buechel, director of the state tourism agency in Liechtenstein, which covers an area of 60 square miles."

Went and saw The Recruit after work on Friday night. I liked it, but then it combined two of my favorite types of story (spy thriller and Fuk Wid Yer Hed) pretty well. The acting was top-notch, too, which is always nice. The Macguffin was a little weak (a computer virus that infects computers through the power cord) and Al Pacino suddenly turned into a walking Exposition Device at the end, but overall quite good. (Question: there's something that Pacino's character tells Colin Farrell that is implicitly contradicted by the other CIA guy at the very end of the film. What's the truth there? Personally I believe Pacino, for that last little bit of 'trust no one' but it's left open.)

Spent Satyrday with a head cold, writing a lab report, talking to [livejournal.com profile] scathach, and playing Darkened Skye. This is a cute action/adventure game, sort of like Tomb Raider only with magic and a sense of humor. "Don't worry about that," says the sidekick, "you can't solve this puzzle yet." "How do you know that?" the heroine asks. "Oh, I read the scrip... uh... I mean, I've got SPECIAL MAGIC." That sort of thing. Oh, and Skittles. The game's evidently a promotional tie-in to the "Taste the Rainbow" advertising campaign. But it's way better than any advertising tie-in has any right to be. The PC version is available for around $20 most places.

Today I watched Kenneth Branagh's Much Ado About Nothing (an excellent Shakespeare film) and wrote a five-page review for class, while talking to [livejournal.com profile] nixve and [livejournal.com profile] vond. Plus I'm basically over the head cold. So life is, more or less, good.
