I finally watched The Prestige, which I thought was very entertaining. The ending strained my credulity, although I should admit that I looked away at the last shot of the film because, as Michael Caine narrated, as the audience I wish to be fooled and if I did not see inside the tanks I could maintain the illusion that everything involving Tesla was a fabrication by Angiers and the dead man was Angier's body double.

Have you watched Stay yet? I think there is ample justification for classifying a sub-genre of "the long con", because that was also a movie where a viewing after knowing the ending is worth it to pick up the "tells". I think this is something different than foreshadowing because "tells" are trivial things that acquire meaning when viewed from the perspective of knowing the ending, like the doomed Borden's telling his partner to "Live a full life," or "Live for both of us."
