Last weekend Emily and I went to Maryland Renfaire, because the Mediaeval Baebes were going to be there. Also, coincidentally, a large number of other people were there as well, including Troyfish and his chick, Shawn and Janna, Katie Wanschura and Matt Roberts, and
skreidle and company. Very cool. The Baebes were very neat, and Shakespeare's Skum was still very very funny, and the music store had hollow wooden frogs with ridges on their backs that made frog noises when you rubbed a stick across them. I got a little one for Emily; I may wind up getting my parents to get some larger (hence deeper) ones whenever they go.
The week was. Watched 2001 in F&SF (I'm still unimpressed), did Trilogy in Poetry. Played a lot of Werewolf on Wednesday and Satyrday. My trackball died for good on Monday, and after talking to Logitech customer support I found out that they don't make them anymore and the warranty was expired anyway, so the best they could offer me was a $10 rebate if I bought my next one through their online store. So I went out to Roanoke yesterday and got a Microsoft Trackball Explorer, which is basically the same as the Marble FX except that the ball is slightly smaller and it has a scroll wheel. And is cheaper.
Went and bugged the Dean's office again about grades. Theoretically "the change just went through last week, so you should see it on your transcript any time now." Whatever. Bloody bureaucrats.
Crystal Black supposedly moved back into Blacksburg last night.
Started on Yeats in Poetry today. Good stuff.
The years to come seemed waste of breath,
A waste of breath the years behind.
--W.B. Yeats, "An Irish Airman Foresees His Death"
Due to a stupid decision in August, I have no money. This is actually due to several stupid decisions made between the months of March and August, culminating in one massively stupid decision in August, but it's easier to fix blame on a single specific event. (Just ask people why World War I started. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.)
