i finished Abe's Oddysee today. i got the 'bad' ending, but i just don't feel inspired to go back and try to get the 'good' ending. i halfheartedly tried-- i played through the first level again, trying to find the 13 mudokons i left behind. couldn't find any of them. checked a walkthrough-- they're bloody HIDDEN in various random places, in doorways that you don't know are there, that sort of thing. and picking up mudokons from outside is a pain, because the game doesn't save after you get them-- you still have to do the next puzzle, and if you die during it you have to go and get the mudokons again. not worth my time, not worth the frustration.
overall analysis: the actual puzzle bits were good; the twitch bits sucked. especially the end stages of the two nests, which basically boil down to Dragon's Lair without the Don Bluth animation-- hit exactly the right direction/button at exactly the right time, or you die and get to try again. bah. and there were enough actual puzzle bits to make the game worthwhile. i'm glad i played it-- just not in a hurry to play again.
next up... i dunno. i could play the next Oddworld game that adam lent me. i wanted to play Blood Omen (or at least watch the cinematics) and then Soul Reaver, but Blood Omen isn't playing nicely with my graphics card. grr. i've also got a handful of dreamcast games i could work with. we shall see.

my amber game came to a stopping point last week. i feel pretty good about it overall-- first game i've run in awhile, and it actually wrapped up a number of plotlines. go me.

origins is in two and a half weeks. creepy, yet cool.
