windows 2000 and its incompatibilies with software have pissed me off for the last time. well, i hope. i'll be taking a day or three next week and replacing it with win '98.
of course, this means i'll have to dig up an older copy of office, and save all my word documents in an earlier format. and figure out what apps i'll need to redownload (zip, for one, but also ICQ). and dig up drivers for various things, including my graphics card. gah. i hate re-OSing. i do it about once a year and i still hate it.

Yep. You'll be doing it again next year when you're fed up with 98 crashing all the time, mark my words :)

I remember finally convincing you to abandon Windows 3.1 - in like 1997, or was it 98.

Well, I can understand the desire to run your software. Imagine how I feel now that I use MacOS, but that was self-inflicted, so I can't complain.

Some say that ME is worse than 98 (mostly people I don't really trust in IT though). I don't see how it could be any better though (since it's the same kernel), so I guess I'd say "don't go out of your way to get it"...

Don't have to have the hardware-tracking thing, the copy Adam and Vond use doesn't have it.
Why don't you get two machines? One with 2000 for doing stuff on, one with 98 for gaming? I did that for a while, worked ok.
