accidentally unchecked the 'always ask me if i want to open this' checkbox from IE when downloading a zip file. hence, ten minutes of frustration at IE trying to find how to turn the checkbox back on, followed by a quick check on google. turns out it's an option that gets set in the Windows Explorer. a stupider thing i have not heard.
score: google gets ten points for finding a solution to my problem on the first try. microsoft's knowledge base gets one point for having the solution. microsoft gets negative a million zillion points for its misguided attempt to make the web browser be the same as the file browser.
bah.

Mozilla approaches 1.0 with the inevitability of a lumbering beast, and about the speed - but it's almost there. It's getting quite usable and crashless.

(this is a lot coming from me, who usually advocates just using IE and getting on with life)
