jazzfish: Exit, pursued by a bear (The Winter's Tale III iii)
[personal profile] jazzfish
I've signed on to play viola in the pit for a high school production of The Sound of Music, on the grounds that doing something is better than not doing something, and there's always work for a violist. Besides, I like it here in winter, and regardless of what happens I won't be moving away before the show in March.

First rehearsal's this Wednesday. It's a half-hour drive away, which is probably more like 45 minutes in the dark, but we shall see.

I got the music over the weekend, and dipped into it this evening.

I had forgotten how deathly dull orchestral music can be. This is not on the scale of the cello part for Canon In D, or the bass line to Orange Blossom Special (which is literally two alternating notes repeated for the duration of the song), but complex harmonies it ain't.

At least I don't have to stress too much about it.
