new year / 101
Jan. 5th, 2013 09:13 amNew Year's Eve was one of the best Eve's I've had. A dozen or so people descended on the apartment for gaming and food and conversation. Several stayed until noonish the next day, so I fed them pancakes, because that's what I do when I wake up and find people in my apartment.
We're almost out of cookies, but there's still most of a container of homemade maple marshmallows and a lot of cider, and we seem to have acquired more liquor as well. I know, anytime you throw a party you wind up with more of a bar than you started with, but we were starting from basically zero.
101 update (the list)
Completed: none, but it's early days yet.
In progress:
14) Hold up my end of an online friendship with Karawynn in a reasonably timely manner. Begin 2012-12-28, ongoing.
15) Catch up with Sarah K. with some consistency. Begun 2012-12-30, ongoing.
29) Post publicly to DW at least once a week. Where 'publicly' is defined as 'not private,' not 'not friendslocked.' Begun 2012-12-25, ongoing.
30) Write a medialog entry at least once a month. Begun 2012-12-27, ongoing.
47) Play or purge all the unplayed boardgames in my collection, except for Italia. (2/13) Played Parthenon, a building game not unlike Catan where the game is mean to you, and Hibernia, a quick conquest game not unline Vinci / Small World with no special powers.
67) Clean the office. Halfway? Hard to estimate.
76) Update budget with RSP numbers. Submitted RSP paperwork, and put a line item in the budget. Need to adjust for actual 6% number once first 2013 check arrives, and adjust tax numbers as well.
90) Read or purge everything currently on the To Be Read shelf. (1/25) Read the newest addition, The Control of Nature by John McPhee. Currently reading Godslayer by Jacqueline Carey.

Date: 2013-01-08 05:00 pm (UTC)Also, and I think I got this off the Trader Joe's bottle of grade B maple syrup: you can substitute 1 cup maple syrup for 1 cup sugar by adding 1/4 tsp baking soda and decreasing the other liquid in the recipe by 3 Tbsp. I've done this a couple of times and I recall it working pretty well.
(And, maybe but I wouldn't expect so. Will be an interesting experiment regardless!)
