goodbye, Avenger
Apr. 17th, 2011 09:43 pmDear Frederick Forsyth,
I don't really care how good your prose is (and it's rather good!), I don't particularly want to spend three chapters getting the backstory for each of the three viewpoint characters. I would have overlooked this, but when the fourth chapter started off as Backstory For Character #1 Part 2 I was done.
Sincerely,
someone who loved Day of the Jackal and The Deceiver
(ps: even with all the backstory there was some confusion between the Tormented Lawyer Who Rose Above His Lower-Class But Honest Upbringing and the Tortured Industrialist Who Rose Above etc. not a good sign, mr F.)
