That's a point. I've always thought of the failure to split it and the choice to name it friends as the cause of a lot of the drama. This is of course an untestable hypothesis, and that name and synthesis may well be sufficiently ingrained that changing it now won't do any good.

It's emblematic to me of what jazzfish is talking about below, though. There's a lot of active development going on at DW, and a lot of it is of the nature of "this has been obviously broken for 5 years, we're fixing it".
