It's an unpopular opinion, but I actually love April Fools day. The stupid ones are always easy for me to spot, and the clever, funny ones are just great.

There /are/ a number of genuinely funny things that come up (Google's PigeonRank is a classic). Every year they get more and more drowned out by the stupid, though.

It's the overload of the stupid ones that gets me. It's like this is the one day when everyone thinks they can be the Onion.

(I've been lucky enough to avoid most of the mean-spirited ones, which are a whole nother problem.)
