The Breakfast Cereal Club: "You see us as you want to see us, in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a leprechaun, a monster, a cap'n, a tiger, and a rabbit. Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Cereal Club."

V.displeased with battery life of the Device. Looks like I'll be charging it daily if I plan to use the internet (or phone) at all the next day.

Settings->General->Network, turn off 3G. Odds are that you don't really need it on all day long, and your battery will live twice as long without it.

(And you can turn it back on when you really do need it.)

Butting in a bit, because there's something else to add. 3G gets you faster data access at the cost of battery life. Same goes for the Wifi, turn it off when you're not using it. (note I am not a Device user, but [livejournal.com profile] kittenchan is.)

Or just charge your battery every day - I find the routine comforting anyway.

Nope, 3G just gives you access to the faster of the two data networks. If you turn it off, you will instead use the slower EDGE network (which is what all first-generation iPhones use for lack of choice). It doesn't affect voice service.

If you wanna shut the iPhone's ears completely, Apple provides a shortcut to that via the "Airplane Mode" switch under Settings.

I find leaving WiFi on but 3G off to be a fine compromise, though; it lets me use the phone for two full days between overnight recharges.

The 3G sucks battery like nobody's business, but that doesn't affect me too much as I never use my iPhone to browse continuously. The wi-fi seems to suck less battery, but maybe that's just my perception.
