It's step #1 that gets me. I have a bad habit of not noticing those until they actually /have/. (As in the case of the mushrooms from Tuesday night.)

Really, my problem may be that I don't buy many perishables, since I expect them to perish long before I get around to using more than about half of them. I admire and envy the people who can keep fresh veggies around and actually eat them at a reasonable rate. So I look in the fridge and say "yep, no food," and then make another round of pasta or something.

If my stomach were feeling less fragile I'd be going through the plaid book this afternoon after work, finding something that looks good and then buying ingredients. Bleh. Stupid sick.
