jazzfish: A small grey Totoro, turning around. (Totoro)

So thanks to [livejournal.com profile] elf and my mad internetsearching skills I discover that Dar Williams is playing at the Birchmere on the fifteenth and sixteenth of November. Inconveniently enough that's a Wednesday and Thursday, but it's still doable. Anyone else interested / have a preference for which day?

Also: my apartment has been in a state of about ninety percent set up for the past month, if not longer. I hereby declare it to be Close Enough To Done. Thus, on the evening of the 18th of November, I'll be having a Gathering. Games shall be played, food shall be eaten, drinks shall be drunk provided you bring them. (Or you can partake of my water, orange juice, and weak Tang.) I figure we'll get started around twoish (or whenever people show up), try to eat around six or seven (or whenever people get hungry), and I'll kick people out, oh, sometime.

[Poll #856939]

After a little over six months of sometimes-running I have made it to the end of week five. I can now run for twenty minutes without stopping to walk. (Although the past several times I was doing fifteen minutes at a stretch.) I'd be happier about this if it weren't trying to get too cold to run at seven in the morning, thus sending me into running hibernation for several months, since I have no easily accessible gym. Forty is about right for running, provided the sun's out at least some of the time and the wind's not too bad. Less than that I'd prefer not to deal with.

But, you know, progress, and all that. Go me. Life carries on.

I thought I couldn't do either Dar Williams show, but I may be able to do the Thursday one now. By the time I figure it out, it'll probably be sold out. :P

The 18th is when the GeoClub at Mason is doing a one-day geology of Virginia trip, which I already signed up for, so won't be at that.

the 18th is a big fat maybe. i'm scheduled to come flying home this Friday, so i dunno if i'll have time/money to come home again so soon. i'd like to, though, and the more you keep me reminded the more likely it is to occur. :)

Unfortunately, I've found "at the Birchmere" to translate to "costs too much, no matter who it is." :\

That's about the usual, I suppose. Unfortunately, it's often for shows that would be $15-$20 anywhere else. Don't have it to spare for two people. :\

A friend's birthday party is on the 18th. Ah well, keep me in mind for the next one.

I don't know what a Ticky box is but it sounds like fun! ;-) I'll be there on the 18th.

I'm nota huge fan of Dar Williams mostly b/c I haven't heard a lot of her songs. So it is doubtful I'll be up for the concert.

I might be there. Still need to figure out plans for the next couple of weeks. Probably won't go to the concert though.

I missed the bit about Dar the first time I read this. That's right after my birthday, too.
Unfortunately I am still poor and can't afford to take a couple of unpaid days off work, let alone get into a concert. Oh well.
Have fun.

I shall not be able to attend for obvious reasons, but I am sending via Amazon.com a combined birthday/housewarming gift, which doubles as a party activity for the winding-down-but-not-yet-time-to-go-home phase or the first-guest-is-here-an-hour-before-everyone-else phase. I don't know if you already own what I'm sending, but it will either mark me as the coolest friend ever or as an out-of-touch friend mired in the past. Either way, hopefully I'll be able to make my annual Christmas trip to NoVa so we can make new memories upon which I can base a similar present next year.

I finally got to see what it was. I'd vote for 'the coolest friend ever', myself.
