I"ve been having a blast with BoardgameGeek lately: listing my collection of games, poking around for strategy articles, and trading away stuff I don't want for stuff I do. The 'Geek makes this last fairly easy by means of "trade" and "want" flags that you can set for games, indicating that you want to get rid of or acquire them. Other than people's disappointing tendency to not write me back about things or to not want my junk, it's been a good experience.

Got an email last night from a guy willing to enter into a trade. I wrote him back [within, I believe, fifteen minutes of the time he'd sent the message] saying "Sure! Sounds great! Here's my address, and I'll ship stuff to yours as soon as you email it to me!"

He wrote me back this morning saying "Sorry, already traded it to someone else."

This is A) infuriating, B) wasting my time, and C) illegal.

In subsequent email conversations with him I've recognised that he doesn't really care about A or B. I've pointed him at various legal web pages in an effort to convince him of the importance of C, but there's no reaching some people.

Grr.

Other than that it's been a reasonable few weeks. Got to see [livejournal.com profile] jude and [livejournal.com profile] scathach, watched various movies [Collateral, directed by Michael Mann, being probably the best of them], and worked a lot. Nervous about the upcoming school year and its kicking of my ass [Directing, Design Lab, and English senior seminar, plus playwriting and, um, some other stuff]. Kicking back.

Did you already send the stuff to him? 'Cause then it's like really really illegal, and you can probably get the nice campus lawyer to help you kick his ass.

Point The Geek admin staff at him. It's possible he's done this stuff before that you can get him banned. I believe the term 'breach of contract' enters into play here. And you even have it in writing.
