net send * HEY!: "And NET VIEW showed me all the computers on the network. (I wish I'd used that command first the next day...)"

Why we study literature.

A Freelancer Tale: "The bankruptcy trustee in charge of the case, Robert Geltzer, has served summons to many freelance writers who collected fees from the magazine when it was in its death throes. The demand: If the fees are not returned, he is threatening to sue." --it's shite like this that makes me question my potential profession.

Neil Gaiman interviews Gene Wolfe: "I didn't want to write a book based on modern fantasy at all. I wanted to imagine the kind of fantasy world someone in the 11th century might have imagined." --guess I'll have to read more Gene Wolfe now.

Ho hum. Off to the second day of rehearsal, then out to dinner.

Um. Thought I'd actually hit the "Post" button. Whoops.

Anyway. Good rehearsal, pleasant dinner with Dave&Kayla, good conversation with Kayla afterwards, and then verbally unloaded to go along with my LJ unloading. And now I sleep.

HEY!: That is almost exactly the story of a guy I knew in high school. Austin, who now lives in Dallas, was once in my CS class and playing with Novell Netware. He sent a message to one of the card-catalog machines in the library, where coincidentally the district sysadmin was working... For saying "blah" on a network he was suspended and denied credit for the CS class, which he was passing at the time. His parents attempted legal action against the school because denying someone credit for a course wasn't specified as a possible punishment in their rules... Dunno if anything ever happened though.
Freelancer Tale: I wouldn't worry that much. That kind of thing can't be that common, and I strongly doubt that they'd actually win against her in court.

I thought we studied literature so that we would know better than to create rakunks. I assume you know what I'm talking about since you're not insane, but I may have misread your parenthetical comment about dreaming.

Yeah. That sounds about right.
