Slept in, had a bagel, discovered my car had leaked some unspecified rainbow fluid onto the driveway. Checked the oil, and it was fine, so I drove off to Arlington. Picked up K, and we headed out to Potomac Overlook, where my father called me to let me know that my car had leaked some unspecified rainbow fluid onto the driveway. Whoops.

The Overlook was quite nice. We saw at least eleven deer, of which two were bucks (still with horns!), a tree with a rock collection, and a beech starting to get a little too friendly with a tulip poplar. Mud, and water, and lots of quartz.

Then, after trading cars, to a place called the Big Bowl in Arlington for lunch. They serve various flavors of Asian food in a large deep round dish. Excellent, if a bit pricey to my B-burg sensibilities. After, a trip to Barnes & Noble, wherein I snagged a couple books I won't have time to read (including a Feynman and a hardback of Stephen R. Donaldson's The Man Who Fought Alone). Then to see Peter Pan, which was quite good.

Walked the mall for a bit, dined at a tasty Eastern restaurant in Shirlington called Aladdin's. Highly, highly recommended, despite the presence of Tukko as our waiter. (for those of you who don't read Brust, we had the slowest waiter on the planet.) Fully sated, we returned to her place and talked for a bit (always good) and watched a bit of Henson's The Storyteller.

And thus the isolation begins in earnest. No sudden doors slamming; I've had something of a talk with both E & K, and I feel like I can go shut myself in my hole and ponder now.

Still not sure what I'm up to tomorrow (well, later today at this point), other than Mrs V's memorial service. Will figure that out as the day goes on, I suppose.
