jazzfish: a whole bunch of the aliens from Toy Story (Aliens)
[personal profile] jazzfish
Memity goodness from [livejournal.com profile] loatiloat via [livejournal.com profile] fuzzyamy. As she says, look for your name if I’ve met you in person, and correct me if I'm wrong. I attempted to make this in chronological order.

My life evidently begins freshman year of high school; everyone before that has been wiped away in the face of the mighty sandstorm that is Jefferson. At any rate, that's when I first encountered [livejournal.com profile] theatrespace, in Troupe as one of my castmates in our Othello scene. A couple years later I started meeting the Troupies I still keep in touch with. The overly cute [livejournal.com profile] pictsy was probably the first, followed by [livejournal.com profile] antikate and Mo and Kim and such (hurrah for Tempest!). That was when I started hanging out with Guard/Band types as well, so I imagine that was around when I met [livejournal.com profile] beracjade and [livejournal.com profile] absolutliz.

[livejournal.com profile] gkjfdh is about the only person from my days in Boy Sprouts I've kept up with at all. (I kept in very loose contact with Andy McCoy and Jeff Firestone for a few years, but that's it.)

I know for a fact that the first time I spent any amount of time with [livejournal.com profile] evercontraire was RenFaire my senior year ('94), followed a few weeks later by trick-or-treating (yay!) based out of her parents' place. That was [livejournal.com profile] qtrnca's first year at Jefferson as well, so clearly I met her then despite not remembering how. Troupe, no doubt. There was a lot of that going on. I remember enjoying ferrying her about, although in retrospect I don't think I really did all that much of it.

I started talking to [livejournal.com profile] nathanw and [livejournal.com profile] skreidle that year, too (though [livejournal.com profile] skreidle has the honor of being the first of many on this list that I can't remember really how I met). That year or the year before [livejournal.com profile] scathach started appearing, too, for no readily apparent reason.

I visited Tech for the first time in late winter '95, and met [livejournal.com profile] cblack for the first time then. So she gets points for being the person in B-burg I've known the longest. Encountered [livejournal.com profile] vileone for what I'm pretty sure was the first time at August Eve '95, and established him as one of those people I'd like to spend more time talking to about Stuff, whatever Stuff might happen to be.

Once I actually got to college the people started popping up faster. More or less in order: [livejournal.com profile] platypusgirl (later roommate), [livejournal.com profile] athelred, [livejournal.com profile] wyrdone; and [livejournal.com profile] kittykatya probably at a VTSFFC meeting. I'm assuming I met other VTSFFCers such as [livejournal.com profile] jlfranklin, [livejournal.com profile] lekythen, [livejournal.com profile] markush, [livejournal.com profile] rubinpdf, and [livejournal.com profile] yubbie at around the same time, since I did a bit with VTSFFC at that point; they all feel like "people I've known about for ages," though.

On the other hand, I distinctly remember first really talking to [livejournal.com profile] vond on the bus back to campus from Technicon '96, although he'd been introduced around at lunch a week or so earlier.

I'm almost certain [livejournal.com profile] shadowsong was at Jefferson one afternoon when I came back that fall, and that's how I met her. I have vague memories of being possibly helpful with emotional difficulties. Or maybe just being there to listen. Some days it's hard to tell the difference.

Fall '96 saw [livejournal.com profile] uilos's arrival at Tech. Coincidentally that was also the time of [livejournal.com profile] narquelion's first visit as well, though I'm not positive I met her then. (Though I distinctly remember her presence at [livejournal.com profile] vond's favorite VTSFFC Halloween party.)

Starting in 1997 and running through about 2000 there's breaks in my memory. I can say "I lived here, then there, and I worked here and here," and I can deduce that THIS must have happened THEN because that's how it fits with external evidence, but I've lost a lot of what was going on then, mostly due to not keeping a journal. So there's a lot of speculation now. To begin with, either 1997 or '98 [livejournal.com profile] bitbug was dating my housemate Kym, so that's when he entered my life. And I'm absolutely certain that I was living in Six with Kym when I first met [livejournal.com profile] sir_alf (viz. move-out fiasco), so he gets filed in here too. (Did you know me before I was dating [livejournal.com profile] uilos? I really can't remember.)

[livejournal.com profile] ndkid's first year here was 1998, yesno? Whenever, I met him the autumn he got here, though I didn't spend much time with him 'til . . . hm. Certainly not 'til Spiel started up in fall 1999 spring 2000. I suspect '98 was [livejournal.com profile] kittenchan's first year as well, but that I really don't recall. [Nope, it was fall '97. Oops. -ed] I didn't really get to know her until she was dating [livejournal.com profile] vond, which started up. . . lesee. . . 1999? Hurrah for my ability to associate untterly random things with real dates.

We'll call it Xmas '98 that I went to a party at [livejournal.com profile] shadowsong's urging and met [livejournal.com profile] fuzzyamy (maybe, or maybe I only saw her at school), [livejournal.com profile] idoru (whom, as I recall, I spent much of the evening giving a backrub to. Or maybe that was someone else), [livejournal.com profile] jude, and [livejournal.com profile] klayzen. (On the other hand, [livejournal.com profile] jude was definitely dating Nick at that point, so maybe it was later? I dunno.)

Definitely summer '99 that I met [livejournal.com profile] faekitty; [livejournal.com profile] uilos and I came down to Atlanta for a friend's wedding and caught Phantom Menace with her and her boy, [livejournal.com profile] sir_alf. I think I've seen her all of once since then, but it's been good to keep up with her nonetheless. I probably met [livejournal.com profile] chaosnymph that same summer, at Origins. . . although I'm not certain. I know she was there in '99, though.

[livejournal.com profile] uilos and I moved into the Hellhole at the end of that summer; that fall I picked up [livejournal.com profile] desfido and a few other freshmen (of whom only he remains, now that Dennis has a job in Raleigh). Also met [livejournal.com profile] mrstickman for the first time at a Game Day that fall. Next spring the four of us went up to JohnCon in Baltimore, where we had much fun (despite the lingering odor of coffee in [livejournal.com profile] uilos's car) and met [livejournal.com profile] mnemex and Brian Joughin, both of whom I keep seeing at Origins.

Speaking of Origins, I'm pretty sure that it was O2K where I first made the acquaintance of those wacky California rabbits [livejournal.com profile] misuba and [livejournal.com profile] zyxwvut, along with [livejournal.com profile] elphie, whom I mentally lump in with them even though it's evidently been years since she's been in wacky California. That was also the year that [livejournal.com profile] the_radix, [livejournal.com profile] lyricon, and Erskin showed up and did Rabbity things, at the very first Big Experiment. It may have been when I figured out who [livejournal.com profile] fuzzface00 was, too, though I know I'd heard the name several times by then. [Clear memories of him making Button Men from the program book and discussing the inability to use On The Edge art for the two he'd created. Either '99 or '00. --ed]

Doubtless I'd known them before then, but I didn't really spend much time around [livejournal.com profile] cxi162 and [livejournal.com profile] laughin until we shared a wall, starting fall 2000. Since that was the first Student Showcase that Spiel was in existence for, it was clearly that year that I met [livejournal.com profile] zerblinitzky as well, on his way to the (nonexistent?) LUG table.

It's at about this point that things start coming back together. Technicon 2001 [livejournal.com profile] kirigoemimarin showed up at the Spiel room; and [livejournal.com profile] jedibfa was a coworker at Syncad, so obviously I met him in late May 2001. (Although we keep wondering if we were in an elementary school class together.) And I'm fairly certain that I technically met [livejournal.com profile] subbes at BaltiCon in 2001, but I only really remember her starting at Origins that summer. And I probably saw [livejournal.com profile] speedlime at Wunderland.earth before that Origins, too.

I met [livejournal.com profile] mikailborg at some Technicon, I imagine. I honestly have no idea. And I probably first met [livejournal.com profile] vt_komainu at Spiel but I don't even know what year that would have been. On the other hand, I doubtless saw [livejournal.com profile] nixve at a Spiel meeting in late 2001, but the first time I remember seeing her was in Roanoke in mid-December 2001, on opening day for Fellowship.

2002 was the Boston warren's first appearance in force at Origins. [livejournal.com profile] cthulhia, [livejournal.com profile] prog, [livejournal.com profile] queue, and [livejournal.com profile] ts52 (along with Denis, Karl, Diane, and others I'm probably forgetting) came and had rabbit-ears and were generally quite cool. (Hope to see y'all again next summer.)

That fall at Spiel we got, along with a couple misc LJless freshmen, [livejournal.com profile] vt_andros and [livejournal.com profile] rbeyma, both of whom have been at least semiregulars since. And the next spring [livejournal.com profile] jedibfa started dating a Theatre grad student who eventually got her own LJ as [livejournal.com profile] lizthefair. [livejournal.com profile] sirleebutler made this Origins interesting, and a few days ago I went to see Paycheck with [livejournal.com profile] nixve, Nick, and [livejournal.com profile] squirrelmadness. Which brings us up to the present.

Yeah. That sounds about right.
