A musical interlude: "Magnae clunes mihi placent, nec possum de hac re mentiri [(Large buttocks are pleasing to me, nor am I able to lie concerning this matter.]"

The New Catechism of Cliche: "What are facts? Plain. Simple. Known. What is done to facts? Checking."

Stopped in at Best Buy on Friday, and picked up Muppets From Space for eight bucks, and the DVD of Jim Henson's The Storyteller (all nine episodes) because it's finally available. (Yay!)

Renfaire was pretty cool. Gorgeous weather. Two good Skum shows (Macbeth and Hamlet), a skinny German juggler boy, good food (I've come to the conclusion that Faire food isn't really all that overpriced, not compared to a restaurant; the drinks, on the other hand. . .), and lots of cool stuff. No random people other than Dave, Kayla, and Tiff, but oh well. Went home afterwards and watched the first half or so of Forbidden Planet, a not-so-cheesy-as-it-could-be fifties sci-fi movie.

Tonight we finished off Forbidden Planet. It definitely owes a lot to The Tempest, but it's a much darker story, It's quite cool, and I'm glad I finally got around to seeing it. (And Leslie Nielsen is so young!) Played BattleBall against Z a couple of times as well. It's a fun, simple, dice-heavy football game. Each of the eleven players rolls a die to move (d6, d8, d10, d12, or d20); in combat, the two players roll their dice and the lower roll wins. A healthy dose of luck (in both games one of Z's d20 running backs managed to take out my heavy tackle, who rolls 2d6 and picks one to use. Stupid carnivorous elves), but enough skill to make it interesting. Well worth the $20 at Wal-Mart.
