Mr Tuppert is adjusting. He's had something of a routine of hanging out in the bedroom, coming out to say hi for a bit, and moseying back. Part of the problem is that there's not really a good comfy place for him to nap out here. I have ordered a cat-bed, along with a cat-carrier so I can return the loaned one to the shelter.
He has definite and surprising Opinions about sleeping: if I'm lying down in bed he wants to perch on my legs. Which is difficult, because he's a twelve-pound cat and cannot actually settle lengthwise on my shin without falling off. So there's a lot of Getting Settled, followed by eventually giving up and curling up next to my legs.
I'm still hoping he will turn out to be a sit-on-couch cat. He'll come and sit by me sometimes but he hasn't really relaxed into it yet. Just takes time, maybe.
Speaking of taking time, he hasn't been eating much. This I'm hoping is just a result of relocation stress (plus possibly me having bowls that were too small for comfort), and not a recurrence of the gastro troubles from last week. I dumped his food onto a plate today and he's eaten more of it, which is a Good Sign.
One thing Mr Tuppert is not, is vocal. I've not heard him meow at all. About the only sounds he's made have been a couple of low "worraugh"s when he's going off to investigate a noise that has displeased him.
(Pictures next time, or if you're impatient some are on FB.)
Overall, going tentatively very well. I'm still concerned that he won't have enough here to keep him interested: he's shown no interest in either a jingle-ball, a crinkle-toy, or a string onna stick. But he'll certainly be warm and fed and loved.
