happy xmas to you, too
Dec. 25th, 2013 11:35 amXmas sort of snuck up this year. After some scrambling we got the Xmas shrub up and decorated by the time people came over at mid-month, and got all the out-of-town presents wrapped and shipped, and then kind of said "eh, good enough." We did manage to get gifts for each other at least, but most other locals will be lucky to get Russian Orthodox Xmas gifts.
Last night we had an unexpected (by me anyway) Xmas dinner, featuring a spherical turkey of uniform density. Then we settled in and watched a documentary about The Phantom Tollbooth, in which it is revealed that Norton Juster and Jules Feiffer are (still) a couple of goofballs. This morning we had Lainey's gingerbread pancakes and presents, and buried the silly white cat in wrapping paper while the aloof brown cat watched with disdain. Talked to my folks, and will talk to E's later on.
Also later on we'll wander over to Science World to watch Santa Vs The Snowman in 3D. This is a ridiculous early-computer-animated Xmas special that aired on television once in the late nineties and I think never again, and those of us in Apartment Six at the time happened to catch it. So that will be amusing. Possibly seeing Gravity afterwards.
I'm off work for the rest of the week. I shall attempt to finish cramming an extra scene (or two?) into City of Memory; if I can get that in on Thursday, I may buy myself an iPad on Friday. We shall see.
