Holy cow, is it really Satyrday?

Stuff what I have done this week, in convenient bullet-point format:
  • Woken up too early to take the train to Seattle.
  • Been delayed on the train by an hour and a half (of a 4.5-hour trip) due to high winds, a large branch, and a wheelbarrow.
  • Had a delightful lunch with Mo, Aaron, and the now-Seattle-based Christine.
  • Wandered around Pike Place Market with a suitcase.
  • Failed to go through TSA PreCheck at SeaTac on the grounds that JetBlue is not an Approved Airline. Because clearly I am a terrist if I fly JetBlue but not if I fly Delta. (I am aware of how fortunate I am that the government agency that causes me the most headache is the TSA.)
  • Arrived in Virginia.
  • Spent half an hour playing with my very active preschool-age nephew while sleep-deprived, and determined yet again that parenting is Not For Me, Thank You.
  • Run all over the DC area seeing a whole mess of good people (hi to [livejournal.com profile] jpenamelist and Todd, Sheila et al, Megan [and Steve in passing], [livejournal.com profile] vvalkyri, [personal profile] thanate and small one, Elf and Dave, and doubtless others).
  • Wandered outdoors in the chill windy fall air. NTS: sandals are not so good for extended tromping in the chill and wind. Bring either shoes and socks, or heel goop.
  • Found a handful of shirts at the various DC area thrift stores.
  • Been to work, which was Not So Bad.
  • Been golfing with work, which was also Not So Bad.
  • Had dinner at Zengo, which I have missed almost as much as the people.
Stuff what I have not done includes any writing beyond email to [personal profile] uilos, enough sleep, or slowing down to catch my breath before last night.

Still to come: breakfast with Dad, rehanging doors that have gone uneven due to the house settling and also an earthquake, boardgames in Arlington, family dinner, flying out of National far too early in the morning, Scott Lynch's reading in Seattle.

It's been a pleasantly full trip.
