The unsuccessful treatment of a case of "writers' block" (warning: PDF). As seen on PubMed, which I guess makes it a real paper.

Cat Island, Japan: "Apparently, cats on this island are way more populous than actual people on this island."

From [livejournal.com profile] kdsorceress, the best stuffed animal story ever.

And from LG&M comments: "Actually, Morgoth Corp. went bankrupt because of legacy costs associated with the reorganization of Melkor & Associates, and the colossal failure of Morgoth Corp’s attempted leveraged buy-out of Arda Real Estate Holdings. Of course, the IP problems with Feanor & Sons didn’t help."

Eh, Xmas. I generally don't get into the Xmas spirit but this year it's worse than ever before. The thought of wrapping all those presents (less than ten, I think) has me with a serious case of the idonwannas. Decorating the tree was a lot of fun last year, but now feels like One More Chore. Etc. I don't know what's going on. Maybe it's having too much other stuff to do in the next six months, maybe it's having had too much other stuff to do for the past two months. Even bookshopping for other people at Green Valley wasn't enough to kick it over into 'oh right this is kinda fun.'

Green Valley itself was fun, of course, and it had been far too long since I'd eaten at a Waffle House. The light dusting of snow on the car when we got out made me happy as well.

My Henge Dock and awesome keyboard are on order, but my monitor arrived two nights ago. Why did no one tell me how bloody gigantic a 24" monitor is? If I want to use it before I move I'm going to have to take the hutch off my desk.
