I somehow managed to get razorburn on my eyelid this morning. Clearly I should not be allowed near sharp things or power tools before I've finished waking up. On the other hand, if anyone ever asks me again why I use an electric razor, I can say "because otherwise I'd be blind."

If I just take a warmish shower in the morning, I can dry my hair with no problems.

If I go running first, and then take a cold shower so that I'm no longer overheating, attempts to use the blowdrier result in sweat pouring off my scalp. This morning, naturally, brought the discovery that not using the blowdrier also results in sweat pouring off my scalp.

Stupid insulation. I'd like to be able to regulate my core temperature a bit better, especially when it's clearly redlining. Giant robots that shoot frickin' laser beams can vent heat by standing in cold water; why can't I?

In response to a sign seen on the metro:

If I lived someplace else I'd be home by now, too. AND THEN I WOULDN'T BE SPENDING AUGUST IN DC.

Despite the weather (and the hamster) it's been a pretty good couple of weeks. [livejournal.com profile] shield_toad111 has been visiting, which is neat, and Chris-of-no-LJ came up for the weekend too. Making breakfast for four isn't really all that much different from making breakfast for two. We had crepes one morning (mmmm) and french toasts the other, and drank a lot of tea and played games and sat up and talked, which is something I don't do nearly often enough with anyone other than [livejournal.com profile] uilos or [livejournal.com profile] nixve. Saw a few rather good movies, did some writing, and generally enjoyed myself.

Plus, Great Big Sea tonight with good people, and a moving excursion tomorrow which will at least result in getting to see more folk. Except for that whole eyelid thing, life is alright.
