The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth [link goes to disinfopedia; you can find the actual site yourself if you want] are a group of Vietnam vets who are opposed to John Kerry becoming President. Fair enough. They're also a bunch of liars.

Media Matters for America has a lot to say on the subject, while American History Magazine tells a story somewhat different from Larry Thurlow's. And at least one of their sources has retracted his statement. Luckily, they have Giblets to tell us all how it really went down. "What are you going to believe, the overwhelming preponderence of evidence or sixty seconds of righteously indignant partisan hackery?"

On an unrelated note, Julius has a chart of Bush ratings v. terror alerts over the course of the presidency:
"There are few things that are quite evident from the chart:
- Whenever his ratings dip, there's a new terror alert.
- Every terror alert is followed by a slight uptick of Bush approval ratings.
- As we approach the 2004 elections, the number and frequency of terror alerts keeps growing, to the point that they collapse in the graphic. At the same time, Bush ratings are lower than ever."

Real post someday.
