F*** the Nazis, says Churchill's parrot: "Peter Oram bought her for his pet shop after Churchill died in 1965. But he was forced to move her into his home after she kept swearing at children."

It didn't feel like the first day of classes. Probably because I only had one class today, and it let out after about fifteen minutes. Maybe tomorrow will feel more real.

Been going to rehearsals, learning lines, playing F-Zero, and thinking. Sometimes reflecting; occasionally wondering.

PEOPLE WHO HAVE READ THE BOOK: About freaking time.

Lexicon: an RPG: "You are cranky, opinionated, prejudiced and eccentric. You are also collaborating with a number of your peers -- the other players -- on the construction of an encyclopedia describing some historical period (possibly of a fantastic world)." --this is a bloody brilliant idea, and I think I shall have to start one up sometime this year. Maybe over the summer.

Performance Lab will be basically the same deal as last semester, only focusing on voice instead of movement. (A shame, since I still don't feel comfortable at all with how I move.) Also, the first twenty minutes of each Wednesday will be t'ai chi, taught by David Johnson, so that's a good step towards one resolution right there.

Music Theory will not be happening. It's currently at about fifteen percent over capacity, and the prof won't do any more force-adds. Which I can understand, but it still sucks. I'll talk to David tomorrow about finding another class to take for the Other Art Forms credit.

HoDaT [History of Drama and Theatre] is big. Really big. Around fifty students, in what is essentially an English class. Should be interesting, though. I finally get to read Pirandello and Artaud.

Geography will be fun. Dunno if I'll learn much, but the professor is a blast. And we get to watch foreign films for credit.

. . . and apart from that, life goes on. It's been below freezing, so Glyndwr's resumed the horrible hacking cough noises. (Took him to Long Shop a couple weeks ago. Diagnosis: "There's something going on, but it's not broken yet, and we can't tell what it is from here without yanking the engine, which'll probably run you the high end of three figures." It might be better now that the noises are back, though.) Still haven't gotten my new glasses.

Contact juggling is hard to learn because, to paraphrase James Ernest (author of the definitive book on the subject), you learn normal juggling, and after about three months you've got a cute trick to show your friends. You learn contact juggling, and after about three months you can move the ball from one side of your hand to the other. Now, granted, I'm beyond that stage (I've been able to do a basic butterfly for years), but the learning is still slow, and after all the work you get. . . another small trick. Once I've got four or five of them I can maybe combine them into something that looks cool, but in the meantime it's just repetitive. Still fun, though, so I'll stick with it.

My goal for tonight is to get to bed by midnight, since I've been having problems sleeping past about 8:30. This should give me plenty of sleep, so I don't doze off during rehearsal.
