Learning eCommerce with Carpet Boy: "It gets a little fuzzy after this because I'm pretty sure I had a massive stroke, but I do recall saying something about there probably being a biped with a computer somewhere in the southeast United States who could do his site for $25, but that it wasn't the one he was talking to."

Yesterday I got Glyndwr inspected. Nothing horribly wrong, except for the two front tires (a known issue; the right front in particular needs air a lot). So, I got those replaced, and proceeded to not go grocery shopping, as I lacked sufficient fundage. I should be able to get by on what I've got until I get paid again, though. I hope.

Then the sun came out, so I went out to the field behind the Vet pond with E. Waded downstream in the muddy creek while she picked her way through the buttercups and laughed at me. Much fun. Between that and the rain I'm remembering how good wet grass and ground (yes, even mud) feel on bare feet. Saw several good-sized frogs, one batch of a whole lot of waterstriders, and several happy birds. Failed to find the incredibly spiky tree, but later discovered that the random road out there is how you get to Smithfield Plantation. (Also discovered the Fiber Optics lab, in a lab complex cleverly hidden behind a bunch of sheep.)

E & I woke up at 6:15 this morning to try and have a yard sale; Patrick's townhouse association has one a year, and today was it. Unfortunately the weather gods were MOCKING us with the sunshine yesterday, and it started raining at about quarter of seven. So we said "Screw it" and went back to bed. Dragged stuff out around eleven, when the rain let up. Made about $20, and went from three boxes of crap to two. I bought a new toaster, to replace my current one, which sparks when you push the lever down. This one has some issues (it supposedly automatically starts when you put something in to be toasted, but it was having problems earlier) but (probably) won't burn the place down.

After, went to see The Italian Job with the rest of the house (and the money from the yard sale). Pretty good stuff. Donald Sutherland is great in his glorified cameo, Edward Norton is sufficiently slimy, and the supporting cast are fun to watch. Marky Mark and Charlize Theron are themselves, but that's okay too. Mini Coopers are kind of cute. Very good car 'chase' at the end involving a helicopter. I'd rather have not seen the trailer, but without it I might have skipped the movie altogether, which would have been a shame.

And now to read the second half of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and some of Beowulf, since class was cancelled Friday specifically so we'd have some time to read.

Yeah. That sounds about right.
