Note to self: when procrastinating by taking a survey and posting it on LJ, don't post until much, much closer to the time the paper has to be done. Otherwise everyone else will do the survey and you'll be procrastinatorially obligated to read through their answers.

Paper is coming along pretty well. I've basically said everything that needs saying about O'Connor's "The River" and "Parker's Back." ("Parker's Back" is a bloody brilliant piece of writing. O'Connor could only ever write one story, really, but this is the epitome of it.) And I've basically got the two Bernard Malamud stories ("Angel Levine" and the rather eerie "Take Pity") under control. So it's just Nathanael West's Miss Lonelyhearts that I'm fearing. Plus I have to go back and replace all instances of "BLAH explain this" with an actual explanation of whatever this is.

Third cup of tea. The Incan monkey god should be visiting me soon. (I like monkeys.)

gah.

And done. It's a rambling mass of incoherency. It's like I wrote a short paper on each of the five texts and then glued them together, poorly. But it's as long as it needs to be and it covers everything it needed to.

I was sadly not visited by my muse this time... with Meursault, at about 1:30-2:00 something just clicked and I started writing and didn't stop until it was done, just after three. And I looked back and said "Holy crap, I actually wrote all that straight through, no checking email or goofing off or bitching to myself about how I'm not sure I understand this bit."

K says I'm not allowed to worry about the paper, though. So I won't. (Why on earth is she awake? I have no idea.)

There is nothing quite like watching your fiftysomething, very Hasidic-looking professor lipsynching and dancing to Runaround Sue with three chicks from class providing backup singers. Especially not if you only got two and a half hours of sleep the night before.

Both my professors for summer are cool with me missing part of their class for Origins. I have yet to hear back from the Theatre dept about forceadding classes.

I actually have a scenario ready to go for Walpurgisnacht. Not horror exactly, but it'll be interesting. Entertaining for an hour or two.

Sleep good.
