Dec. 6th, 2001 09:32 ami may have just found a source for Quandary.
Quandary is a Milton Bradley game that's surprisingly really, really good. It's a very classy reprint of a German card game, and is very very very hard to find.
the place i may have found it at is selling it for less than ten bucks. it's a used bookstore, though, so i'm not sure how many copies they actually have. (i ordered five... i can always unload the extras on ebay at a large profit.)

more news...
Dec. 6th, 2001 12:46 pmgot my new contacts yesterday. tried to put them in this morning... the left one (the eye with too much astigmatism) seems to be fine, but the right one (the eye with too much nearsightedness) doesn't feel like it's going on properly and i can't see out of it anyway.
i have an appointment tomorrow with the optometrist. this guy doesn't impress me...first thing that happened when i walked in for my appointment two weeks ago, they gave me the puff-of-air glaucoma test. the PUFF-OF-AIR test. to paraphrase, that shit is prehistoric and should be confined to amusement parks. the last time i had a puff-of-air test was at a military optometrist. when i went to a private optometrist in NoVa in 1991 he openly derided the puff-of-air as being outdated and unreliable. sheesh.
Played the Lord of the Rings boardgame last night with the new expansion. We got our butts kicked. One hobbit dead before we even got out of Moria (Moria!), one more down on the way out of Isengard, and the rest of the party fell in Helm's Deep. Still a fun time, though. And J. showed up at Spiel, which was cool. Sounds like he had a lot of fun.
