Today's toastyfrog contains the following gem: "I've just returned from a delightful meeting where I learned that our company is helmed by inept morons and funded by lazy salespeople, and therefore all the people who do the actual work (in other words, my posse here in the design & production 'hood) get to enjoy a very thrilling $250/mo. pay cut. I'm pretty excited about that, because it means this site's tone will be upgraded to seething and bitter as opposed to merely disgruntled. At least until someone bothers to contact me about the applications with which I've carpet-bombed the region, anyway." At least he's able to channel his frustration and lack of ready cash into something useful. I just started doing work commensurate with my pay.

Watched the BBC Neverwhere again last night with various cool people. Good stuff (hush, [livejournal.com profile] scathach). Mr Croup and the Marquis in particular are wonderfully done. And Islington is sufficiently creepy and cool and the tunnels are great and ... yeah. It will theoretically be out on Region 1 DVD in June.

More and more I find that my ideal number of people for just hanging out is between two and four. More than that and I start to lose the ability to interact with all of them simultaneously, and trading off is insufficient because I lose focus and concentration. Four is good because it lessens the strain of keeping the conversation flowing, and because if it breaks off briefly into two two-person conversations I can keep up with one while still tuning into the other.

And life goes on.

Interesting about the layoffs. My boss and I had a talk about that today. If she were to make the decision, she would cut a managerial position instead of those who do the work! Think about. You would cut a large salary and benefits without affecting productivity.

What a concept!

I agree with the two-four thing. Any more than that tends to decompose into several smaller groups anyway.
I figured you probably wouldn't mind if Kayla came along last night, and I figured she needed to get out some anyway.

Hunter was good, too.. [though her hair wasn't long. which -- i checked; 'long and tawny' or something -- it IS in the book. alas. the Marquis is great -- he's the only one in the BBC version i really LIKE. richard mayhew needs to look more like Gaiman, Door needs to look younger and redder-haired. et cetera.
