Feb. 16th, 2003 12:06 pmWent and saw Daredevil on Friday. It wasn't bad. The supporting cast was fantastic. Michael Clarke Duncan is the new Ving Rhames, make no mistake. And Colin Farrell's Bullseye seemed torn from the pages of a comic book. (I have no idea how faithful he was to the original, but he felt like a comic book character. This is not a bad thing.) Plus it had Erick "Who is the boss of you?" Avari, and a cameo by Stan Lee.
On the downside, the last couple scenes (plus an amusing bit after the credits) just scream "Please love us enough that we can make a sequel," and I remain unimpressed by both Ben Affleck and by Daredevil's ability to swing from rooftop to rooftop with a gaping hole in his chest.
The trailer for the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie is up. The LoEG was a six-issue comic book by Alan Moore about the exploits of Mina Murray (nee Harker), adventurer Allan Quatermain, a submariner known as "Nemo," Dr Henry Jekyll (and his alter ego), and a fellow named Hawley Griffin who's not all there. Good stuff. (There's a second series being published even now; I haven't read it, so can't say whether it's any good.) The film looks horrid; I post the trailer link solely for those whose morbid curiousity would impel them to seek it out anyway. Mina is less ladylike and more Queen of the Damned, there are HK-inspired action sequences and tommy-gun-fights, and, well, the movie is being promoted by the 'acronym' LXG. That pretty much sums it up, really. Under no circumstances will I squander either my time or money on this waste of celluloid.
Another late night Friday with E & K, watching the bonus stuff on the Legend DVD. The trailers were awful; the 'making of' was very cool. Then games Satyrday, followed by an ice storm and power outage (argh).
