Snow. Six inches or so. First decent-sized snowstorm around here in ages.

Would have been fine going to work except that I drove off the driveway and it took fifteen minutes to get out of the snowbank. (Thanks, Neil.) Other than that the roads were basically clear. The parking lot had been plowed around the edges but not in any of the parking spots, so I got to guess at where a spot was.
Came out after work to find they'd plowed up snow around my car, so getting out was another exercise in spinning the wheels a lot. Luckily some guys came along and gave me a push.

For anyone looking for some Epic Fantasy With An End In Sight, I recommend Michael Stackpole's DragonCrown War. The zeroth book (The Dark Glory War) may be a bit hard to find, but the first one (Fortress Draconis) just came out in mass-market (normal paperback size), and the second (When Dragons Rage) just came out in trade paperback, so they're easy to find. DGW isn't really required to understand the rest of the series, although it's nice to have the background.
Based on the lag between #1 and 2, the third should be out about this time next year, just as the second goes to mass-market. So you'll have plenty of time to hunt Stackpole down and kill him for the ending of #2.

I was introduced to Battletech when I was in Texas, and the person I played with let me borrow some of the Battletech books, most (all?) written by Michael Stackpole. I don't know any of his other work, but I wholeheartedly recommend his Battletech writing, and I imagine his other stuff is good as well. I particularly liked the battles.

Damn damn damn. My stay in Blacksburg was framed by the two big snowstorms. Blah. I like snow.

Yeah. That sounds about right.
