Survey sez...

It's a survey. It's going around. I'm bored.
1. What is your LiveJournal "user name" and what does it mean?
For reasons which now escape me, I needed another mail account to supplement my VT account in the late summer of 1996. I went with Juno based on good recommendations from somebody or other. The name 'tucker@juno.com' was already taken, so I went with the main character from Jazz Fish Zen by Howie Green. (If you can find a copy, I highly recommend it. Mad propz to
scathach for making me read the book in the first place.
2. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest), how well does your LiveJournal represent who you actually are?
Ehh. Public entries? Maybe 3-4. Not that I've written many private entries lately.
3. How much do you post to LJ about your life?
Not as often as I'd like to. :) One of the disadvantages of an online journal is that you can't take it with you to write in, meaning that I compose huge rambling entries in my head on the bus, and forget all about them by the time I get home.
4. Is there anything you refuse to post about?
Publicly? I dunno. There have been things I've not posted about, but I'm not sure that's the same. Should Emily and I ever have a big fight I doubt I'd put the details online.
I don't write much about my family, despite thinking about them a lot. That might count.
5. On a scale of 1-10, how interesting do you think your own journal is to others?
I have no idea, but people read it, so it must be vaguely interesting. (Or maybe they just skip my entries, and haven't delisted me to keep me from feeling bad. :)
6. How or from who did you find out about LJ?
shadowsong told me to get an account in fall 2000 so I could read about her trip to Scotland.
7. Has anyone ever joined LJ because of you?
mrstickman and
scathach are the only ones I can think of, and I was only partial inspiration for both of them. Emily really ought to join, though, and I guess if she did it would be because of me.
8. What proportion of your posts are friends only?
Very few. As far as I'm concerned, only "friends" are reading this anyway.
Private entries (which wasn't the question, but oh well) are more common, but not much more. There are things I'd like to write about that I don't get around to, on the grounds that the events are public and my reactions are private.
9. What is your favorite interest on LJ?
I forget. I don't use the interests lists.
Checking back now, it's probably either Steven Brust, Roger Zelazny, or board games.
10. Has anything on LJ ever caused you to establish, rethink, or even change your belief or position on something?
Not that I can think of.
11. How often do you respond/comment on other people's journals?
When I think they need it and it's not too likely to be something someone else will say. Looking at my stats it's less than one comment every two days. (Dang... I missed my journal's second birthday by a week, too.)
12. Do you prefer to write in your journal, or read other journals?
I'd rather I wrote in mine, but I tend to read other people's journals a lot more than I write in mine.
13. Have you ever had something mean said to you or been stalked, harassed, or got into an argument/flame war on LJ (or did it to someone else)?
I had an anonymous dork leaving rude comments for a bit, but I turned on the IP-logging option and that seemed to scare him off.
14. Have you ever banned someone from your journal?
Nope. Never seen a reason to.
15. Who are your favorite LJ friend(s) and why?
Hrm. I'll usually read at first glance, without skimming, long entries by
blaisepascal (because he doesn't post much and it's usually interesting when he does),
scathach (because it's the only way I can keep up with Steph's life),
jude, and
cthulhia (because what they write feels real). But I read everything that goes across my friends page eventually.
16. How many of your LJ friends have you actually met?
All except
blaisepascal, although I know maybe ten of them "well" in Real Life. My friends can be divided into Jeffersonites/people from high school, VTSFFCers, and Rabbits. I know the Jeffersonites well (mostly), most of the Rabbits I've met once or twice, and the VTSFFCers are a mixed bag.
17. Of all of the people on LJ you know of, who is the most like you?
I have no idea. Usually I have friends because they're *not* so much like me. Maybe
vond.
18. Why are you most likely to add someone to your friends list?
When I know them from someplace else and find their LJ.
19. Do you automatically add friends to your journal if they add you first?
In general, yeah, since people who add me are usually people who know me and found my LJ before I found theirs.
20. What is the most likely reason you wouldn't add someone to your friends list?
I'm not that interested in what they've written, generally.
21. Is your "significant other" on LJ?
Nope, she's too much of a bum to get an account.
22. Have you ever wanted to meet someone on LJ?
It'd be nice to talk extensively with the people I haven't spent much time with.
