"In lieu of flowers..."
Sep. 20th, 2011 08:38 amOoh, new John Cale EP! And the whole thing's available as a stream from the Grauniad.
The line "In lieu of flowers, please send acerbic letters to Republicans" popped into my head this morning for no apparent reason. A quick search unearthed the source, a 2005 obituary for a Mr. Heller:
Feeling much more human after a day on a more normal schedule, an evening of Not Doing Much[1] and a good night's sleep. Today Things, including self-care and some but probably not all of the letters I owe, shall be Accomplished.
[1] Where 'not doing much' involved a first play of a moderately complex game. So very nice to have something for the left brain to crunch on for awhile.

Theodore Roosevelt Heller, 88, loving father of Charles (Joann) Heller; dear brother of the late Sonya (the late Jack) Steinberg. Ted was discharged from the U.S. Army during WWII due to service related injuries, and then forced his way back into the Illinois National Guard insisting no one tells him when to serve his country. Graveside services Tuesday 11 a.m. at Waldheim Jewish Cemetery (Ziditshover section), 1700 S. Harlem Ave., Chicago. In lieu of flowers, please send acerbic letters to Republicans.Awesome.
