Arthur: "We had to give up his Habitrail-type cage when he got too big to fit through the passageway tubes." In pace requiescat. Semirelatedly, John M. Ford remains a supremely accomplished poet.

I'm pretty sure everyone saw Jonathan Rauch's wonderful essay Caring for Your Introvert a couple years ago. [If not, go read.] The Atlantic has now published a follow-up interview with Rauch, which is equally wonderful. "I think that's probably a core introvert characteristic . . . that small talk takes conscious effort and is very hard work. There's nothing small about small talk if you're an introvert."

[livejournal.com profile] papersky has another @#%$ing research experience: "So, there I was sitting in a Chinese cafe on Ste Catherine half way through a bowl of won ton soup -- indeed, half way through a won ton -- with a pot of tea in front of me, with absolutely no idea how I got there, and totally convinced that this was in fact a dream."

Had a good trip out to the beach, despite the sleet (Satyrday afternoon), the snowstorm (Monday morning), and the mid-thirties temperatures (all weekend, except for Friday). Saw a church sign on the way out that read HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS. Since it's now nearly two months past Xmas and the sign was of the changeable-letter variety, I can only assume that it was referring to Jesus Washington, the Father Of His Country, who chopped down a cherry tree and was crucified on it by the British. Or something like that. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

RSI is starting to act up at work. I've gotten a keyboard tray and that's kicked the worst of it, but my right arm is still slightly sore. Dunno if this will go away now that I'm in a better position or not. On the bright side, my good trackball should be arriving today or tomorrow.

Yeah. That sounds about right.
