It's a bad year for expensive possessions. Godot [computer] has died again: it does this neat trick where you turn it on and it starts to boot and then freezes up. Since it does this when I'm checking the BIOS too I'm assuming it's a hardware problem. Oh well. I needed to replace the motherboard and processor eventually anyway.

Two amusing movie bits. First Ken Hite goes to see Domino. "When Tom Waits and Christopher Walken are, respectively, only the ninth and fourteenth oddest things about a film, you have something very special on your hands whatever its provenance." Second, Roger Ebert hates Doom. "The movie has been 'inspired by' the famous video game. No, I haven't played it, and I never will, but I know how it feels not to play it, because I've seen the movie. 'Doom' is like some kid came over and is using your computer and won't let you play."

Big booksale at the Y thrift store tonight / tomorrow. Looking forward to that.
