busy busy weekend
Oct. 25th, 2010 02:57 pmFriday was Belly Horror, which was less horrific and more awesome this year. (Belly dancing dragon FTW. Not to mention the killer tomatoes.)
Satyrday we got up too early so we could get to Faire with Jeff and Scott of ABG. Faire was fair: good weather, lots of people, crazy costumes (not as many steampunkers as I'd expected, though, which is fine by me since my instinctive response to steampunk consists of "fuck the Victorians"), food, more random acquaintances that I wanted to see than that I wanted to avoid, and lots and lots of Stuff.
uilos bought me a Green Man mask as a birthday present, which is something I've been distantly wanting for, oh, most of a decade now, so that was very cool.
My cope gave out sometime during the new Shakespeare's Skum show (Shakespeare in Jeopardy. Good times), and we headed home. I changed into street clothes and was kind of shocked to discover that the purple garb shirt that Kim Telsch made for me, um, nearly sixteen years ago now actually looks pretty good with jeans. So I wore that to gaming and felt all fancy and dressed-up.
Sunday was a lazy morning, followed by hanging out at
rislyn's with a variety of people. Then there was Tribal Cafe, where
uilos and
tam_nonlinear and I barely managed to squeeze in. I like Tribal Cafe an awful lot but when it gets that crowded it's verging on being an Unpleasant Experience for me. I suppose I might feel differently if I got there early enough to grab a good seat. Like, say, 5:30. The acts were all quite good: one Old West set, one involving bits of classical ballet, and one very elaborately costumed troupe piece done Borg style. Awesome.
And now I am at work, where after two weeks there is a toaster in the kitchen so I don't have to rely on the "convection microwave" to toast my breakfast Pop-tarts, and from whence I shall shortly depart to pick up my shiny new computer. Apparently "ships in 3-5 days" really means "ships in 3-5 hours." Which I'm pretty much okay with.
