Between Stephen, Gar, and Bruce Baugh, this whole LiveJournal thing is starting to get a bit out of hand. (I mean, Gar's got his own bloody blog offsite!)

Anyhow. Went to Dead Dog Satyrday, got sunburnt. (Shock! Amazement!) Foxtail is cool. After, took the cats outside and tried to brush them 'til they stopped shedding. Moderate success; Chaos at least no longer sheds in clumps, nor does the hair pour forth from his head like Niagara when you skritch him. Kai was really, really unimpressed with the leash and being outside and being brushed, so she's still got a lot of loose hair. (Ten grams of cat hair removed, plus at least half that much that didn't make it into the cathairball of doom. That's a whole lot of cat hair.)
Then off to plays at Emory & Henry. This Is A Test was of course amusing; I thought the production I saw at Jefferson ages ago was better, but I'm sure some of that is time and nostalgia. Christopher Durang's Actor's Nightmare was quite good. Arthur Kopit's Chamber Music was decently acted, adequately produced crap.

Sunday was slow. Walked Z through chargen for Changeling, played Monkeys on the Moon, and hung out for awhile. Good stuff.

I found myself unwilling to think enough to read Sophie's World this morning, so I'm hauling Frederik Pohl's Heechee books around again. Gateway is better than I remember it being in high school (and I remember it as being pretty good, so that's saying something).

The War Machine: "Finally, a laptop worthy of the term 'toddler-proof.' No disastrous crashes to the kitchen floor. No months of data lost to an incident with the sippy cup. Hazardous materials? Toss it in the dishwasher."

Myths and misconceptions about Iraq: "There are, however, a number of myths and misconceptions on both sides of this debate that can be fairly addressed."

Interview with Dorothy 'Cat and Girl' Gambrell: "I have generally found that politics are not nearly as important as politicians claim they are. Unless, of course, Politics starts running around the room waving its arms and shouting incoherently, as it's been doing lately."

And from [livejournal.com profile] skreidle, When Teaching the Ethics of War Is Not Academic: "While there are many differences among them, warrior codes tend to share one point of agreement: the insistence that what distinguishes warriors from murderers is that warriors accept a set of rules governing when and how they kill."
