Finished Yevgeny Zamyatin's We earlier today. I'm glad I read it. It's much like 1984, but written in 1921 in Russia. I read 1984 in eighth grade and hated it, but could never express why. Reading We I have some ideas. The concept of a totalitarian regime is wholly repugnant to me, as is the idea that there is nothing that can be done about it, that this is the inevitable conclusion of human society. [1] Also, the language was clumsy at times; I can't tell how much of that was intentional, how much was the Russian, and how much was the translation. So, I personally didn't much like We. But it was still a good book.

Then I contemplated starting to read the interface book that Kayla loaned me, and was struck by a thought: I have nothing to do with interface development. I will have nothing to do with interface development for the next couple of years[2] at the very least. There is really no point in my keeping up with trends in interface development; it will only make me more actively bitter. Hence, I'm going to read Sophie's World instead. (Until I have to read Miss Lonelyhearts, that is.)

Also: Coming Attractions has sold out; instead of being a great website for movie news, it will now be a great column in Cinescape for movie news. I don't blame them at all, but it's one less site for me to hit. Sigh.

[1] The fact that we're acting it out doesn't make it any more palatable to me. War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength. We have to protect the Iraqi people, there should be no criticism of the gummint, and the economy's getting better all the time!

[2] "Hey, Rocky, watch me pull a VirPack job for Tucker out of my hat!" aside. Don't get me started.
